Print One Cat Poster Tonight: Pick the Right File and Paper

Short answer: For a first print tonight, get the free cat poster, open the PDF that matches your Letter or A4 paper, and print page 1. For Wild Cousins, choose its matching size folder below and print at actual size.

You do not need the Wild Cousins set to try this. Use the free Your Cat's Wild Side poster and its free download button; Payhip emails you the download link. No purchase is needed.

1. Unzip WildSide_Cat_MiniPoster_FREE.zip (extract it before opening a file).
2. Load the paper your printer supports. For US Letter (8.5 x 11 in), open WildSide_Cat_MiniPoster_FREE_US-Letter.pdf. For A4 (210 x 297 mm), open WildSide_Cat_MiniPoster_FREE_A4.pdf.
3. Select page 1 only, portrait orientation, and the same paper size in the print dialog. For this free poster, fit to page is fine, as its page-2 instructions say. Check that the preview shows the whole poster, then print one copy. Page 2 is the sources sheet; keep it for reference.
4. Put the poster by your cat's favorite window. Tick one habit you notice tonight: your first print has something to do, too.

Plain paper works for a first try. Card stock looks best according to the poster instructions; use it only if your printer supports its weight.

Already have Wild Cousins? Choose one size

Unzip WildCousins_Print-Set_ALL.zip, open WildCousins/, then pick one folder that matches your intended print size. US Letter is paper for the free poster, not a Wild Cousins size folder. Do not resize an A4 file into an 8x10 or 11x14 print: each size has its own layout.

Those examples are the house cat and African wildcat print. Each folder has the same six choices: 01_cat-african-wildcat, 02_cat-european-wildcat, 03_cat-black-footed-cat, 04_dog-gray-wolf, 05_dog-wolf-howl, and 06_puppy-wolf-pup. Pick just one for your first print.

PDF or PNG? Use the matching file

The included guide recommends PDF for sharp text and print shops, and 300 dpi PNG for photo labs or phone apps. Open the matching size's PDF first unless your printer or lab asks for PNG. For the same first cat print, the exact PNG paths are:

• 8x10: WildCousins/8x10/WildCousins_01_cat-african-wildcat_8x10_300dpi.png
• 11x14: WildCousins/11x14/WildCousins_01_cat-african-wildcat_11x14_300dpi.png

Wild Cousins print settings

These instructions come from WildCousins/README_BUYER.txt in the ZIP; that file is the included printing guide.

At home: use the matching 8x10 or A4 file and paper. Set 100% / actual size, rather than fit to page. Actual size preserves the intended dimensions; fit to page scales the artwork to the printer's printable area and changes the finished size. Check the preview before printing one page. If part of the artwork is outside that area, use a compatible printer or a print shop rather than cropping or stretching it.

The guide suggests matte photo paper or 65–110 lb (175–300 gsm) card stock. Check your printer's paper-size and weight limits first. A4 support does not mean a printer supports 11x14.

At a print shop: upload the matching PDF, or PNG if requested. Ask for that exact finished size at actual size / no cropping. Confirm the preview keeps the whole design and the requested dimensions. Matte or satin paper suits the painted look. The guide notes that 8x10 and A4 are sharpest; 11x14 is intended for normal wall-viewing distance.

Two different jobs, two settings: fit to page is allowed for the free cat mini-poster; actual size is the instruction for Wild Cousins wall art. If you are still choosing, print the free poster first.
